Radio Sheffield It's 3 minutes past 10 to 5 day weather forecast on b.b.c. Radio Sheffield this is Abby do her 1st after a chilly start across South Yorkshire and North Darwish it will be a mostly dry day with some good spells of sunshine and given the light wind it's going to feel very pleasant temperatures reaching about 30 degrees they were enjoying clear for much of the night so it will become chilly once again winds will strengthen though and late in the night cloud will build in the west overnight lows of about 60 so it's mostly in the bright star but cloud will spread in from the west quite quickly and that will bring in Candy snow patchy rain the best of the drier brighter weather for tomorrow will be in the east but it will be a windy day highs of 15 degrees a cooler feeling day than on Sundays are when swinging around to a northerly direction but it is looking at it brighter and makes the dry a frosty start the new working week 20 miles about say there's more weather online at b.b.c. Don't you carry such a feel. Good castings is Yorkshire darshan. Yes we've. Thanks. To our we. Thank you our thanks to our thanks. To our thanks to our . Thanks. But you go far beyond this case as I can safely get to. The bridge I want to read to the new chief market which is on the corner of the right. And the from where I was standing it looks like a hole has paid in the pavement although I don't know if it walls and a manhole all the holes being created by the force of whatever's created this far it's why in front of the front entrance of the co-op and flames are coming out of it they they sort of also lay between being about half or half a foot and it's up to 2 feet high they still go down and up and down and up and there's a cauldron in place at the moment stopping pedestrians and also. Vehicles from from traveling along the stretch of lot of right in Clarkson straits if you're driving you're going to be diverted as soon as you get to claim a place that is the turning up towards the Hallamshire Hospital and also down on to Captain St you're not going to drive the the cord for the jet stream's is a bit closer to the fire just in front just in from the journalist studio and just before they did the co-op begins as I'm told from from when the fire offenses he is here this morning it's been going on for about an hour and I did a bit of a Facebook live on the b.b.c. Relation of your Facebook page which you'll Well you'll be able to to see what's going on people were asking look people in the co-op is there any want to cooperate or there is there anyone in any of the nearby buildings and I've been told that everyone in the buildings surrounding this fire have been evacuated within the cordon so there's no one at risk at the moment but people are also asking well why are you firefighters not putting out the fire and that is because as I did says suspected electrical fire and of course electricity and water do not mix so at the moment the fire fighters have to wait for electrical technicians to do what they need to do to you to stop the electricity. And then to start sorting out this fight at the moment it's really. A waiting game for the firefighters and also anyone who is hoping that they can cross. The barrier at the moment if you are driving or walking in this part of Sheffield this morning so I got it right and Captain straight you are going to be turned away at the moment no sign that this this fire is going to end any time soon firefighters too far engines in attendance this morning morning just watching and waiting for technicians to do what they need to do you say the message is if you all want to travel in this part of Sheffield you're going to have to drive and walk and cycle around this fire and currently the fire looks like it so well it's continuing this fire coming out of the pavement in front of the co-op thank you very much Kat Cowan our reporter there keeping an eye on that fire is that electricity related fire it's going to continue burning until they can get some people who know what they're doing in that rip departments they're going to come along and sort that's how it's in the Glossop road and clocks and street areas can said and we will keep you updated if there's any more information on that but the best thing to do is possibly just to avoid that area you're listening to Paulette Edwards and comedian Dave spikey who's playing the bass the civic tonight is in reflective mood with his new show it's a look back at his 30 year career as a comedian including his time on his program Phoenix Nights and he's been telling me about how he got started in showbiz with a talent contest judged by lottery grace and no less somebody said You're really funny you should be a comedian I was working at the hospital and I believed him for some reason so often when going to a talent show in Scarborough as far as a con at the Opera House it's not the no is who will do Wicca and I went in a woman and then I got through to a final and the final was talking to the star was no big deal. She said the judges will regress. And daughter brain bred daughter bras to Mary field from Fools and Horses Yeah and I want it and Larry Grayson afterwards said it was a very coarse one thing but what won it for you really was really a Larry shootin you did about the juggler on a motorbike so when I got round to thinking about doing this 30th anniversary in a way too and only the title for it I thought well that's perfect because if I had no wonder what I'd just come back to the hospital and the only reason I don't really was because of the juggler on the motorbikes all that's why it's called you're going on a motorbike because I might still be in the hospital apologies or the wise move if it were who came 2nd in that competition then. What about in the article then what was your job before you hit that big I was a biomedical scientist to be specific I was a chief or by medical scientist in charge of the hematology lab saw blood disorders How did you get into that then it's a proper job where you have to do a degree and. It is no. Very long story but I was a pension decorator. School and I was just a mere levels he had an accident but does claim to fame was painting the hands on the turn or clock in Bolton little anybody know what I didn't tell anybody was while he was doing really did. What he was doing a fell off and I don't accident and I had to leave school and so I wanted to do medicine that was my ambition whether I've been bright enough I don't know and while he was being treated at the hospital for 2 broken ankles not a joke he saw the. Technicians as they were at the time here and he said because he had to go to work he was the breadwinner obviously he's going to be out for 6 months or so I went apply for the job on the Friday got the job and that's a really got lost in the whole world of hospital of riches and really enjoyed working behind the scenes in static questioning whether I'd ever make it as a doctor because I loved all that being and I'll analytical process and when. And you went all the different labs I was in microbiology and biochemistry you know dipping hematology and stuff and I did get to play I got places offered to do medicine after completing as with my qualifications and I just was happy where I was not discovered I was getting paid and I discovered Mrs parties and you know so I ended up there and I said 32 years into the day before I saw this year's celebration 19072000 saying I didn't leave the hospital 2000 so it's not 30 years fall on comedy really and you never include any of that in your routine then yes and in the hospital Yeah I know it's influenced me know if so I share. The microbiology and there was a horrible period where I had to work in the this is back in 6897 so I was in microbiology TB lab so working with phlegm. Is saying no I don't know is if you want me to do it then as well yeah I can't do that we tested on animals and maybe that's why maybe I got I became vegetarian very early on in my life for years ago and I've always supported animal charities and still very active passion and I think I talk about the law in the arts it's a bit dark some of that but I was rubbish at the animal thing and and as it does it has contributed to and you know I've rescued animals about you name it don't get docs talks a great little fellows but they do cabaret. Well you know if you've ever been camping by stream you know I have been brought his little cottage by the in the orchard and the stranger is always dose level fellas but there are cabaret by midnight you get into the pub early on for a few drinks about 8 docks then the audience fly in while you're in the air he walked past 200 dogs just serious and just as you're going sleigh just as you get on do you do you there are in your sleeping bag o. Ever thought about not have too much pressure you know that you do that see fresh air. And the comedian comes on about midnight just a shooter. So with a couple. With a couple of big and. The. Avoid. When you're in love with a beautiful woman. You know a. Great as well may deliver is not very good so it doesn't really matter. I once told a lot on a building site to go and tell the foreman that we could smell electricity and he did it. So I have been talking to Dave spikey on b.b.c. Radio Sheffield today best known of course for his work on Phoenix Nights with pizza k. Well the famously fell out but they got back together some years back for. A big. Disagreement in a creative environment. And then some newspaper pits upon him of all proportion but no the so the arena gave. Us my life really 151-5000 people over 50 nights after all this time because you know Phoenix finished in 2003 so it was like 12 years after the events you still got that sort of affection for the show and for the carrot says still backstage waits while dressed as Jerry the 1st time in 12 years know why Jackie aren't ready to sing it in full of ashes on the roof. And. 15000 people singing along. You know which it's always salad. Even Buckingham Palace. Just one of the most amazing amazin you know where is love for charity ball after it was nothing about and it's a cliche but we've never been a part of the gang just jelled we had $11.00 or 2 days a rehearsal because we couldn't afford it was all for charity stuff and it was an arena so we couldn't afford massive real source and then on the nice it was just a dream Honestly I want to learn co-writing then what was it like just creating something new when the idea came from how did it work well it was this is an evolution really of things because we mustn't forget that there was 3 writers on the new Fitzmaurice for rock or as well that was generated from a series that with 3 of us rock all that pizza care thing. Every spoof documentary so one was about being all one was about. What was about you know I scream. So when it came to series Channel 4 said pick one the obvious one was it was called in the club which was the forerunner to Phoenix Nights and it was the one that offers more opportunity for game characters and we all brought different characters to the table we all recognize that that's the important thing in a sit com It's not so much the storyline or the set in the chemistry and it's the wear that the audience identify with those characters and so our knowledge of the would not shoot that is. Just for example as a character Nicole Kenny Sr who's a pathological liar you don't have anything. And we all we all knew somebody like Neil knew so many of the people who are the Chippy was I said he was there to the end of the triads and I had a blog was used in a pub this is Kenny senior came in well now we all saw the tee times at our last part of. What it was was going on tell you what cardiac arrest. Me how to categorize your eye and watch him loose women and recognize the signs of watch Tolbert So I got the car got the gripping pain in the chest got the pins and needles left mother all that's me cardiac arrest that was what time Loose Women So I've been in hospital an all or not I'm not I'm for that 3 minutes 3 minutes I had to think quickly so what did you do well the why is any I in to comment. Got it going again but not support scratches no do I So I did just. What. It believes it us a soft thing you know expects us to believe it so you know courage is a bar where we all go yeah I know some do some about but for so long until then for the 30th anniversary what can we expect after this wonderful tour Well you know what it's going offshore well their stuff all the way through next year saw nothing I don't know what's going on in 2019 but I'm doing this for another 12 months or whatever and live in it in its evolves all the time in different memories it's sort of. Retrospectivity spot is so light and know when then it's like me looking at what's popular the moment we had we had funny credit as opposed to Mary Berry and things you know some got stories about funny. And just formative years growing up and as I say what share with me. Talk about a lot is I thought I heard on acid my grandma would start she's still going stops in Charlotte not long ago on this you know our charity Magus or the council gives to the. You know what they call in feel well equipped. For cancer research. Grants that I can about all that will get. Me to talk to you always thank you very much for joining us you're welcome get this the for the words and if you do anything else you let us know what you are well I need to stop laughing when someone says Funny chronic I mean to grow up down to comedian Dave spikey He's at the Civic tomorrow night 730 Take a deep breath. Deep oceans are challenged to explore the space the surface of Mars our oceans are a lot with astounding creatures take the female cope with life fish she has reached a critical body size and age that triggers a remarkable transformation by the end of the summer she will become that he. Dot co dot u.k. . We're going to be hearing from. Him in a little while she's going to tell us her fridge hopefully we're going to talk about her life since she's got. Should we say and the changes she's made in a very short period of time but with. The questions. If. You do know that every once in a while and a few friends and I went to this festival and crafts a net kind of near it while in the know. In the orchard Dales kind of area and we bought different things that one of my friends bought a pattern for socks are no but it's winter it's a nice thing to do in the evenings is a bit anything but she couldn't find any needle she couldn't buy these needles anywhere that she needed to knit the socks I said well I'll go online she don't do much online and we need to work on or she says I said I'll go online and ask if I can get them for you I got these needles and I've had them in my house for about 4 weeks but she's going tomorrow to Scotland and she said to me all about Choose stay can you drop these knitting needles off for me please Paul let me feller will come and get him and I thought well it's easy because you know we're going to be in that area may be feller and his moment mum's been over will pop along there after we've had some lunch holds and to your ever will pop these needles off so we did that cross poles it's quite a way away from where I live we dropped them in a knot on the door there was no warning and so we just dropped these needles through the net letterbox in the overlook that they came into our hours so it was open and I thought it would be or are dropped in through the letterbox Anyway later on in the evening I text my friend I said if you got that it's illegal so we started it in the socks yet she said she just went quiet so she didn't respond straight away and you know some people are really good at getting back to you straight away on a text or a whatsapp will she didn't get back to me about half an hour later I got a message I can't believe this message that I'm going to kill him so I said What happened apparently a fella got this passage through Look city saw these bamboo needles and thought well it's not our address on the envelope and we've not altered any bomb Boosie no way to be put back in the po. So these little needles are now back in the post and probably on their way to our house again and I don't if she's going to get I mean time to knit or socks while she's in Scotland so you can tell me about when the postal situation went up side down for you over 14279 people 62981331 the text message with Sheffield I said to a message last night every pill is still alive she said I just took the. This is. I didn't realize it faded that song. Tell me about your posting disasters which. Told you about. Friends that's about something and ended up just putting it back. Into the polls because he thought it was for the wrong address anyway out of 14279 double 6 double 9 so Nigella Lawson then she's invited us all to get round the table in a new series starting on Monday on the b.b.c. For this series she hosts a celebration of home cooking with the food that makes us feel happy and welcome and Nigella joins us now good morning Nigella Lawson Good morning can I say to you thank you very much for your lemon polenta cake which I made at the weekend to my friends they nearly case to every inch of my body they were so pleased. To make something I did that cake and I've been known to post that cake to my brother when he's felt fed up and it's the only sweet thing my mom loves so please is one of my favorites too because that lemon in this is really quite sharp it is and it was nice with the sweetness and the heaviness of the pool and there is so much of a hit so clocks going back about to go back we've got the night knowing in is that comfort food that we're after with you Nigella this time but you know what I mean as far as I'm concerned all food is comfort food I mean you know because it's I think that we need a righty you know you don't want always the same things but I don't like fanciness in cooking and I do think you know there is something wonderful about it I don't know stews and. You know lack of nice fashion putting every now and then when I am gravy I said close to the gravy preferably not together not as we are. But yes I mean I've got in my 1st program I've got a very old fashioned something I can tell if you know it called Queen of putting Oh how does not come on this program well it's you know it's like a sort of custard base. So you separate eggs you have the eggs sugar milk vanilla and you saw the bread crumbs or I used to brioche crumbs I had a stale brioche and crumb that and you bake that and you put jam on top of that and then you whisk up the whites and. Put those put that on top of that back in the oven and it's just so good that they're so nice I'm very disappointed that you got a brioche in your house all the brioche girls before you guessed. So what ingredients then I'm not buying a big enough loaf there. But actually I make this so often that what I do is I buy a brioche and I stay and put in bread crumbs and I keep it in the freezer in and little freezer bags each one measured out from one puddings worth because then I know when I need when I want them I need no one needs to make put it when I want to make this pudding I just take out the bag from the freezer and that's it I'm ready to roll nor a little bit less faffing then so ingredients are the things that you always keep in year so if you've talked about what you may keep in your freezer What about your fridge and what's always there for you Well I'd say eggs but I keep my eggs out. I always have bacon. And this is very often but I always keep the dripping from things that I cook so if I cook bacon I have little cups of bacon fat I have little cups of beef shipping and of chicken fact and what you do with it is just gravy making stir in where it can do between it's on toast chicken fat on text delicious I use I fry fish in bacon fat or a smear over a chicken when I roast it. And break that's good with everything. If you're making a piece suit you can cook an onion in it 1st so so I do that sort of thing I mean I couldn't I mean I'm in a way this isn't the fridge but I couldn't cook without lemons or salt or good salt and I think I would salt What do you mean where I use Malton you know the sea salt flakes Ok then so I'm just writing a shopping list so you know what you talking. Chili is I need chili is the chiles and I need chilies I do so I'm also very fond of. Sure lots you notice my older than him but I don't get the little round ones which can be very fiddly to people I get these ones that I used to call them but non-essential lots but now they sell them with a fancier name they sell them is a scallion shots nonissue lot they're so they're very easy to peel a leak so often I use a leak where you know like you might use an onion but I use the leaks it's much easier to chop and cook fast it's when you should say scale unions because my mom calls those kind of opinions as she calls him a scowl unions because she's Jamaican me mom you know American heritage and you know it's cause and scallions she says they they are scallions or not they're not as galleons or like spring onions bring unions as well yes bring on is there like scans Yes that's right I mean they've all got those remains but I love those sort of onions I think they're great tonight so why do you stand there and on so for eating or eating around the table have you got preference when I have a preference for the table but I have got a fetish about it so I have so I have I've got a preference for eating on the table but you know if I mean I you know if on certain days I'm sitting on a sofa and I you know fancy a bowl of soup then the thing is I am a very clumsy person so there is then my soap ruined but you know I have I don't disapprove of it but I don't know that I would think like oh let's all sit and watch and eat I wouldn't do I wouldn't make supper to eat on the sofa and we're coming up to Christmas now know that you like to do any as to yes in buckets and things with bright if you've got any of the new ways of making Christmas dinner coming up on this program well you know when I got a Christmas special and I have to say I I can't oust my turkey you know that's my traditions I'm not going to change that. But I am quite keen on the dark where you have to more than one dark roast dark I've got quite a good method for roasting duck which for me is like acts of Christmas Eve feast I'm not saying you should do instead of the turkey but it's certainly good and I've got a new way of cooking where cabbage. A simple and also a slightly mad but to me a very pleasurable new form of Brussels sprout dish in our home of. Our events that when it's an idea I think tradition to me is really important but also it's love it are very things as Well Nigella Lawson looking for to seeing in treating us to some great food and giving us some new ideas as well very I am Monday all of the thought so thank you. I started playing on this thing in the corner of the roof called a Play Station but it's definitely a leisure time. Job now enjoy me where I'm truly. Freedom to me. And I live on my enjoy do the housework and have to have the leisure time as well and you have to argue with yourself Oh I do. Less sometimes it was because of weeks you should see what it was another mission to be fast break join me tomorrow morning from 7. South Yorkshire. Good morning Nic Robbins Good morning Paula and we still have some slow traffic because of the closure of Gloucester Road in Sheffield between Clarkson Street and the a 61 up ahead of the street and across the bridge itself the roads are closed to traffic and but afterwards because the fire near the co-op George Street in on top there's still a partially blocked road there because of the incident going on between not well and Mill Street towards bottom line so expect some delays around the how it acts branch near the Morris and supermarket elsewhere looking generally slow around Sheffield because of the problems around Gloucester Street loss of road I should say so do watch out for slow moving traffic around there but from the Jordan thought Parkway on the block and park with out towards just a field road south and of course later on today we have the Doncaster races the gates open at midday in an hour's time the 1st race at 20 past one the last at 20 past 5 supporter road a ledge away might be a little heavier than normal and the updates let us know if you count the number of 142561212 more from us in our finale broadcasting to South Yorkshire and snorts in television this is a b.b.c.
