Three inmates remain on the loose
Merced County Sheriff’s catch three escapees and arrest alleged accomplices
Merced County Sheriff's are still searching for three escaped inmates: MeJorge Barron, 20, of Atwater; Gabriel Francis Coronado, 19, of Atwater; Manuel Allen Leon, 21, of Vallejo.
The hunt for three inmates who escaped from the Merced County Jail continues as the sheriff’s department arrests people accused of aiding in the escape.
Three of the escapees have been apprehended, the Mercy County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The six inmates were discovered missing from their cell from the downtown Merced County Jail just after midnight on Jan. 10. A preliminary investigation has determined that the inmates were able to gain access to the roof of the facility and utilize a homemade rope to scale down the side of the jail, according to the sheriff's department.
