On Friday morning, Josh Lease left his house in Meyers at 6:45 a.m. to go skiing on the other side of Lake Tahoe at Alpine Meadows.
Usually, the 55-mile drive takes about an hour and a half. Lease, who is a 20-year Tahoe resident, knew he needed to get an extra early start because there was bound to be ski traffic. Friday was the first big powder day of the winter, and that morning, the storm lifted after delivering more than 6 feet of snow to the region.
