G oing to meet a revenue inspector to obtain a khata is a trial by fire, it is rumoured. Yet, everyone has to knock on the hallowed doors of the
revenue department because the khata is an all-important document, detailing the assessment of a property, its size, location, built-up area and so on for the purpose of payment of property tax. The khata is also a kind of identification of the person who is primarily liable for payment of property tax. So, how a private citizen came to get a khata for a property owned by a temple maintained by the Muzrai Department is a mystery that many people are wanting answers to.
