THE TROUBLE WITH HELPING THE METIS
Neestow’s using Alabama tactics in Saskatchewan — and some MLAs are hurt
EARLY IN JUNE a field force of about a dozen Canadian university students will fan out through the Indian and Metis communities of Saskatchewan. They are taking part in a community organizing project called Neestow (from a Cree word meaning “brother-in-law”). The project is supported by about $4,0(X) raised last month by a group of Protestant ministers in Toronto, plus other funds donated by student councils.
