With a press release.
The Spartans on Sunday afternoon announced they wouldn’t accept a bowl invitation if they received one. That was after Michigan State (2-5) had its regular-season finale canceled due to positive COVID-19 results for Maryland.
First-year Michigan State coach Mel Tucker released a statement Sunday saying “the best decision for our team is to prepare for the 2021 season.” That’s understandable, considering players have been on campus since June, asked to alter their daily lives due to the pandemic and have been undergoing daily COVID-19 antigen testing since Sept. 30. They can now go home and spend Christmas with family while taking a break from football.
