The show is often described as “the German
Stranger Things”, which is probably fair enough, but
Dark is a far, err, darker and occasionally grimmer take on the familiar territory of a small town being haunted by the disappearance of its children. The writing takes in tropes of time-travel and ancient evil, and features some truly sublime set-ups and jump scares.
Where
Stranger Things was happy to occasionally play itself for laughs,
Dark has no time for such shenanigans. This is just a good, scary and engrossing show.
