A severe storm has ripped through surban homes after Cyclone Niran was upgraded to a category three system off Queensland's east coast. 
The storm battered homes with heavy rainfall and strong winds in Springfields Lakes near Ipswich, Queensland on Tuesday. 
With winds reaching up to 130km/h, tarpaulins were ripped off from constructions sites.

Ergon Energy has restored power to 35,000 homes since Monday after winds reached up to 185km/h. 
The Bureau of Meterology said Cyclon Niran has now moved away from the Queensland coast, but is expected to rapidly intensify.
