Stanley Cup Playoffs filled with Indigenous representation

By Josh Giles Writer The NHL Stanley Cup playoffs have just gotten underway, and the number of Indigenous players competing for the cup is huge. The players make up seven players, two of which are on their teams’ taxi squads and a head coach. Starting off the taxi squad players are Brady Keeper and Garrett Pilon. Keeper is a Cree defenseman from Cross Lake, Manitoba. Unfortunately for Keeper, he hasn’t had too much NHL exposure, only appearing in a single game this season, and not having any goals or assists. There’s little chance that he will make an appearance with the Florida Panthers during their playoff run. Similar to Keeper, Pilon has only appeared in a game for the Washington Nationals with no points to show either. The Métis center…
