Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports Jim Benning said he would be aggressive, but I’m not sure anyone expected him to be this busy. Benning made a flurry of moves on the first day of free agency today, most notably inking Travis Hamonic and Tucker Poolman on defence, Jaroslav Halak in goal, and Brandon Sutter on forward. The Abbotsford Canucks promise to be a very strong team next season, with a number of players with NHL experience likely to suit up for the new AHL team. ....

Stanley Cup Playoffs filled with Indigenous representation May 19, 2021 66 views By Josh Giles Writer The NHL Stanley Cup playoffs have just gotten underway, and the number of Indigenous players competing for the cup is huge. The players make up seven players, two of which are on their teams’ taxi squads and a head coach. Starting off the taxi squad players are Brady Keeper and Garrett Pilon. Keeper is a Cree defenseman from Cross Lake, Manitoba. Unfortunately for Keeper, he hasn’t had too much NHL exposure, only appearing in a single game this season, and not having any goals or assists. There’s little chance that he will make an appearance with the Florida Panthers during their playoff run. Similar to Keeper, Pilon has only appeared in a game for the Washington Nationals with no points to show either. The Métis center… ....
