Sri Lanka : Funeral of Muslim COVID victim according to previous circulars, DGHS informs court

Dec 23, Colombo: Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Dr. Asela Gunaratne has informed the Galle Headquarters of Police Inspector in writing today (23) that the funeral of a COVID-19 infected Muslim resident of Deddugoda, should be conducted in accordance with the circulars issued regarding the disposal of bodies of COVID victims and to apprise the Galle Additional Magistrate of the instructions.
Acting Coroner of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital Chandrasena Lokuge ordered that the body be cremated on the 20th of this month, taking into consideration the circular issued by the Ministry of Health regarding the disposal of corpses of corona infected persons.
