The country's annual clothing and textile exports are expected to drop by 24.5% due to the coronavirus pandemic
Sri Lanka is making a significant step to increase the share of locally-sourced raw materials in clothing made in the country by setting up a new fabric processing park.
Located at Eravur, Batticaloa, in the country's Eastern Province, the park is being funded by the government's investment promotion agency, the Board of Investment (BOI), with construction beginning in the first week of February.
Yohan Lawrence, former chairman of the Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association, told just-style that there are already three to four investors, including apparel manufacturers, holding talks with the BOI about moving to the park.
