DAYTONA BEACH — The COVID-19 pandemic has forced Daytona International Speedway like all businesses to make major adjustments last year. Many of those changes are carrying over into this year as Speedweeks begin this week.
Last year's adjustments included significantly reducing attendance at races, canceling a big music festival the Speedway was set to host, and requiring staff and fans to wear face masks as well as follow coronavirus safety protocols.
Through it all, the Speedway managed to find ways to keep people employed and to host events benefiting the Daytona area.
"Being a good community partner is in our DNA and it's something we're committed to doing during good times and bad," said Speedway President Chip Wile.
