Stoughton Superintendent of Schools John Marcus is resigning his position at the end of the school year, he announced at the School Committee meeting April 27.
The former popular principal and teacher sent a letter of resignation, effective on June 30, to School Committee Chair Sandra Groppi, who read it at the meeting.
In the letter, Marcus said that he has been honored to serve the Stoughton Public Schools the past two years, but "for personal and family reasons, I will be unable to continue as superintendent for the coming year, and will be seeking other opportunities that afford me the time needed to support my family more effectively."
