Sinton church continues monthly âcommunity closetâ amid pandemic

SINTON, Texas â Although their doors were shuttered for six months toward the start of 2020, volunteers at New Beginnings Fellowship are continuing to offer free clothing to those in need.
The organizationâs Community Clothing Closet event opens on the last Saturday of every month. Lucinda Blasingame with New Beginnings Fellowship said the clothing giveaway started out three years ago with two small closets, but eventually graduated to encompassing a whole building.
âThereâs nowhere for people to go if they need clothing on their backs,â Blasingame, a Sinton resident, said. âWeâre about 30 minutes from the next place that you can go and purchase something if you needed to buy clothing, and if you didnât have the means to do that â youâre kind of out of luck.â Blasingame said they have been assisting anywhere from 30 to 40 different households.
