It is something i think we need to [inaudible] thank you thank you. Is all the cards i have. Anyone else like to make Public Comment . Come on up. Good morning commissioners and good morning phil. Im lukes tobeen and recreation supervisor with reck and park thmpt departments motto is get out and play and i like to say that my roll at reck and park is help make sure arfbd can get out and play. When i saw this Strategic Plan drafted i thought here is my chance to do something that i have thought about doing for a long time and that is suggest that we add everyone to the Mission Statement for rec and park. Because it says in the Diverse Community but i really felt everyone reflected that we really do welcome everyone and in my specific role in the department that really includes people with disabilities and that worried everyone says that to the community. I actually took a avenue of outreach that wasnt mentioned in phils presentation and emailed taylor and also suggested that we add language that said that we are going increase programming and Inclusion Service for those with disabilities and pleased to see those things were add today the plan. This Strategic Plan shows rec and park support including everyone from the very top. It shows everyone, staff and the public that these are rec and parks values. This is our culture and this is who rec and park is. We have a lot of work to do to increase programming for people with disabilities at rec and park and to meet the demand that we are seeing. As this Strategic Plan is being proposed, we are working on a plan to increase our programs and services for people with disabilities and i would love to come back and upidate you on the plan. One big step we have taken is hired 2 therapeutic recreation coordinator and they are here today. Jennifer wong. Stand up. And emily vasquez. My life is mech bert now that they are here. It is good for the department as well. We moved mountain tooz get the 2 of them on in time for summer. Summer camp started 2 weeks ago and i think they started 3 weeks ago. We are going to head out of here and check on kids who are being included in a lot of our camps now. I came here today to acknowledge all the support we are receiving to make sure everyone gets out and play anyone else who would like to make Public Comment on this item . Okay, being none Public Comment is closed commissioner low. I want to acknowledge the great effort of staff and everyone involved in the Strategic Plan and the great effort and energy that went into this. Particularly give special acknowledge to Harvard Business school and all their probon tow contributions totowards this even being a cal business alum nigh i do want to recognize the great contribution of hbs on this project. That is trully a remarkable contribution so thank you very much mrs. Gensbering y and want to conclude by a couple extra things. I want to thank taylor and eric who are project managers and the amazing job of coordinating all the input we received and cureating it and figuring how to incorporate it and writing and rewriting draft. We are where we are because of them so wanted to thank them. The last thing i want to thank are the executive staff and several are here, [inaudible]icatey, lisa dawn. It was as a team we did this and did have hard conversations and it wasnt always easy to get to the outcome but it was a important endeavor and there was a tremendous amount of integry in the effort and proceed where we are and excite today Work Together over the next several years to implement this plan before i ask for a vote let me make a comment as well that woe know only too well sitting up here that we never had enough money for all the defered maintenance and never have enough money for all the park security that is warrant tded by a system this size and never have enough money to activate all the Community Facilities in the park and threrf do leasing to non profit to try to make that up, so having said that, i think this document will help make those hard decision that you have to go through every month and picking priorities and putting the money where it does the most good. I lend my congratulations as well to the staff and all the effort that went into it, i think it is a very important document. With that, commission bonilla one i was gratifyed with the attention or focus on is language access. I dont think we have done as good as a job as we should have in those areas in that there will be information on i think 3 major languages that will be continuously at play in terms of getting nrfgz out to the users. The other thing is i absolutely expect that staff will be compling to the commission with progress reports on our efforts towards implementing the Strategic Plan thank you. With that i would entertain a motion to approve the Strategic Plan so moved, second. Moved and seconded. All these in favor so moved. Is there anyone who would like to make general Public Comment . Seeing none this item is closed. We are on item 11, commissioner matters. Allow commissioners to raise issues. We are like at the half time and i like to also hear just as a upidate where we on the 2012 bond project because i think it is important in terms of transference also be able to report back to 24 public on the deliverables we made base thond 2012 bond pruject jz thank you commissioner, seeing no other request jz any Public Comment. Seeing none, public coptant is closed. Item 12 [inaudible] any Public Commentant . This item is closed. Item 13, any Public Comment . Seeing none we are moving towards adjournment. Any comment . Seeing none this item is closed. Good morning, everyone. My name is ken mcneiley and president of at t california. I want to welcome you today and thank you all for being here and spending some of your morning with us. We are happy to be celebrating the most incredible work by San Franciscos finest Nonprofit Organizations and we are happy to have our mayor ed lee to join us in this announcement. [ applause ] mayor edwin m. Lee all right. Thank you, ken for being here and certainly for at t and for your team. I just want to recognize mark blake man and jason chan and cammy blackstone. I hope, ken, that you have enjoyed all the different hair styles that jason has been having. Cammy is going to add to that as well. Good morning everybody. This is a great time. Another wonderful moment. I know a couple months ago ken and i shared the stage at palace of fine arts when we were inaugurating the celebration of our art history. Its helpful to think of at t not just today in what they are doing but 100 years ago when they were making that first transatlantic hall with linking with our citys history has been wonderful. Fast forward, 100 years later, at t is doing it again. I know the board of supervisors and my office Just Announced a pretty big budget but a budget that continues to be in the works because whatever revenues the city can do to help our communities, the communities and nonprofits that serve directly our communities are also saying they need more help. This is a time when all of us and particularly our Business Leaders like at t can recognize the vital role that keeps San Francisco accessible, keeps it vibrant and literally helps continue making at it the world class city that it is because the world class city has to have a heart. I know that at t has made these grants. I have eight Wonderful Community organizations that represent the service that they do the most vulnerable of our residents. They help protect the environment and culture of our city. Im proud that our private partners recognize the innovative and hard work they do and what they do in the city by supporting our people families, seniors and youth. Today im pleased to announce a significant campaign that at t is sponsored. Its called the sf summer of giving. Its an 8week initiative and i can slip the tongue and say the summer of love because ken and i know that love is about giving. But the official time is sf summer of giving and its an eight week8week program that is going to help San Francisco. Each of these awards will be a minimum of 20,000 and more to Nonprofit Organizations. We are going to announce each one once a week so each organization gets their week where they can celebrate. The total is over a quarter of a million of dollars of love that we are sharing through at ts generosity. And you know, these grants are to agencies that are doing great work in our city. At a time even when we are probably considered the richest of the most unaffordable city in the country maybe next to new york. Affordability, accessibility are everybodys concern. And certain is one of my top concerns. So, i want to remember that the organizations that help us deliver our services is not all government. It could be Community Based agencies in many ways are more culturally competent when they are working with our immigrants in particular, working on the ground in the community. So by design, as nonprofits they invest everything they have to the betterment of our communities. So we wanted to acknowledge them through these grants and through this fantastic campaign that we are lucky to have. Specifically today, you have organizations like the Asian Pacific American Community center in the visitation valley. Somewhat isolated community admittedly because while we try to reach all communities in San Francisco we have isolated poverty areas of our city. Well, a pac has been there from the start and they are trying really hard to provide culturally Competent Services to moderate income to immigrant families to allow them to be more successful. So i want to thank at t for stepping up. This is the first of a total of eight. Eight is a lucky number, ken. And its also one that i believe will set yet again another great example in this city that businesses and you are going to hear, after we announce these and i know at t will be thanked by the city because others will follow their lead as well and they will be making announcements that will be shared by other Community Based nonprofits that need our help. I look forward to following this campaign on twitter and i know we are getting the details about how you can find out all of those details, ken, thank you for this generosity of at t and also with the great partners with all of our nonprofits. [ applause ] thank you very much, mr. Mayor. We are very excited to kickoff this campaign and this is the first sf summer of giving that weve done and we have constructed it in a way that each Nonprofit Organization gets its time in the spotlight. Over the next 8 weeks we will go to the organizations and thank them for their work and we will spotlight each organization on twitter to get the word out about what they are doing to improve the lives of san franciscans. I hope you follow us on sf summer of giving and see how they are celebrating the contribution to San Francisco. Im about to announce the very first award to the Asian Community pacific center.
