Setback for BJP in Tripura, new outfit captures key tribal body | Agartala News

The outcome of the elections to the TTAADC is being seen as a major blow for Bharatiya Janata Party-Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) alliance.
AGARTALA: In a major setback for the ruling BJP, a newly-formed tribal-based party 'TIPRA Motha' is heading towards capturing power in Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Elections to 28 of the 30 seats were held on April 6 and the remaining two seats will be nominated by the governor as per the state government's advice.
The tribal council election was scheduled to be held on May 17 last year, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
