WLKY IS MARK VANDERHOFF HAS DETAILS OF THE PROJECT. IT WAS AT THIS VERY FIELD MORE THAN A YEAR AGO THAT VETERANS CLUB FOUNDER JEREMY HARRELL HAD A CEREMONIAL LAUNCH TO THE DEVELOPMENT. HE’S HOPING THAT THIS MEETING WAS SENATOR RAND PAUL AND OTHERS WILL BREATHE NEW LIFE INTO THE PROJECT. I LIKE TO PREPARE IT TO THE NORTHERN COMMONS FOR VETERANS, AND WE’RE HERE TODAY TO DISCUSS HOW WE CAN BRING THAT PROJECT IN A FRUITION. CAMP RESTORATION WOULD BE A PLACE WHERE HOMELESS VETERANS COULD GO AFTER SUBSTANCE ABUSE OR MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT AND CONTINUE TO RECEIVE SUPPORT SERVICES ON SITE. THAT’S THE IDEA HARRELL PITCHED TO SENATOR PAUL AND OTHER ELECTED OFFICIALS. WHAT WE’LL DO IS LOOK AND SEE WHAT’S AVAILABLE AND THEN WHAT WE FIND OUR JOB TO DO IS SCOUT OUT AND FIND IT BECAUSE THERE’S SO MUCH MONEY AND SO MUCH OF YOUR OXY FINDING IT’S PART OF THEM PROBLEM AND THEN WE’LL SEND A SUPPORTIVE LETTER IN ADDITION TO IT MAKE PHONE CALLS TO TRY TO ADVOCATE FOR THEM TO TO GET SOME OF IT HAROLD SAYS SOME OF THE FUNDING AND DONATIONS HE HAD LINED UP IN MARCH 2020 DISAPPEARED DURING THE PANDEMIC, NO WHAT KEEPS RUNNING THROUGH MY HEAD IS PEOPLE I’VE MET WHO MIGHT ACTUALLY GIVE TO US SOMETHING LIKE THIS. I WILL ACTUALLY LOOK AT PRIVATE DONORS AND FOUNDATIONS LOCAL AND STATE LEADERS ALSO PLEDGE TO FIND STIMULUS FUNDS TO HELP PAY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT. THERE’S BEEN A LOT OF COUNCIL SUPPORT FOR LOOKING AT INFRASTRUCTURE AT ONE TIME SPENDING IS SUPPOSED TO SO ONGOING SPENDING FOR THAT TYPE OF MONEY. SO THIS IS THE TYPE OF THING I THINK WOULD BE NEXT REALLY HARD AT THE STATE LEVEL. I THINK THAT IT WORKS IF WE CAN GET LOCAL MATCHING AT THE STATE AND I HOPE STRUCTURE HAROLD SAYS THERE ARE VETERANS WHO NEED HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IT’S IMPORTANT THAT WE CONTINUE TO TAKE CARE OF THOSE WHO WERE WILLING TO GO AND SPEND DECADES OVER IN THE MIDDLE EAST DOING THESE THINGS FOR THIS COUNTRY TO PRESERVE OUR WAY OF LIFE. AND THIS IS ONE WAY THAT WE’RE GO
