TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State Men’s Golf team wrapped up its successful stay at the Cabo Collegiate Invitational in Los Cabos, Mexico, by shooting 29-under (272-278-273) and placing third following Tuesday’s final round at the Cove Club.

“I’m really proud of our team,” FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. “Coming back from a disappointing week at the Watersound Invitational, it was great to see how our guys responded to that and to the challenge of playing in one of the top fields in the country, and bouncing back from that.”

Sophomore Frederik Kjettrup strung together another good performance, tying for fifth with an 11-under 202 (68-67-67). The native of Demark shot three consecutive rounds in the 60s to lead the way for Florida State once again. It marks his third Top 5 finish in his last four tournaments played.

“Frederik comes in and shoots a 68, 67, 67, and is becoming one of our team leaders lately. He’s making that transition from being a freshman to being a leader on our team, and it’s definitely needed,” Jones added.

Vanderbilt won the Cabo Collegiate Invitational at 32-under, while Texas Tech was the runner-up at 30-under.

Fellow sophomore Brett Roberts shot an 8-under 205 (68-68-69) and also recorded all three of his rounds in the 60s, tying for 10th. Roberts’ game continues to ascend as he looks to back up his freshman All-America campaign in 2020-21. Roberts’ average score of 2.73 on par 3 holes ranked first among all the competing golfers.

“Brett Roberts is starting to find his form a lot more, with a good finish at Mobile and now a good finish here,” Jones said. “Again, he had three straight rounds in the 60s. That’s going to springboard Brett to being the player we know he can be.”

Senior Daniel Bradbury shot his lowest round of the tournament on Tuesday at 67, producing a 7-under 206 (68-71-67). He tied for 12th.

Playing as an individual, freshman and Tallahassee native Patrick McCann tied for 24th with a 5-under 208 (68-69-71).

Cole Anderson tied for 31st at 3-under (68-72-70) and Michael Sakane tied for 42nd with an even-par 213 (70-72-71).

The Seminoles will have nearly three weeks off from competition before heading to the Golf Club of Houston for the All-American Intercollegiate on March 21-22.
