The program provides food to kids who may not otherwise have regular meals during summer break in a school district where 74% of children qualify for free or reduced lunch rates, according to the Schenectady City School District website.
Meal pickup times last an hour and a half. Most begin between 11 and 11:45 a.m., and end between noon and 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The program is continuing with the “Grab and Go” format from last summer because of current COVID-19 restrictions. All meals are pre-packaged by SiCM volunteers, and can be quickly passed out to children at the distribution sites.
