SADC: GL celebrates 20 years in vibrant online event

Johannesburg, 29 March: Laughter, love and hearty congratulations characterised Gender Links’ 20th birthday celebrations on 17 March 2021. The Non-Governmental organisation (NGO) has grown from one woman working from her home to an institution, once acknowledged as the best NGO in Southern Africa, which has had an impact on the lives of 168 407 beneficiaries.
Congratulatory messages poured in, including from Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of UN Women and former South African Deputy President, GL’s  first staff member, Zohra Khan, global policy advisor at UN Women; members of Gender Links’ Sunrise Campaign in eSwatini; Thenjiwe Mtintso, South Africa’s ambassador to Cuba; Maurice Mbolela, Executive Director of Zambia’s Local Government Association.
