GHAZIABAD: A robbery was reported in a local businessman’s house in the Link Road area on Wednesday evening. The three accused entered the house posing as courier agents and took the family hostage at gunpoint.
The house belongs to Vikas Kumar, a dry fruit seller. At the time of incident, he had gone to attend a marriage function in Delhi and his younger brother Ashutosh, his mother and the accountant from his office were present in the house. The accused fled with cash worth Rs 1 lakh and valuables of over Rs 5 lakh.
Ashutosh told TOI, “Around 4.30 pm on Wednesday, one of the accused rang the doorbell and told me that there is a courier in the name of my brother. When I opened the gate, he barged into the house along with two other masked men. They took us at gunpoint, tied our hands and legs with ropes and locked us in a room. They threatened us and asked for the keys of the almirah. They started beating us when we resisted. After around 20 minutes, they fled from the spot and took with them Rs 1 lakh, two gold chains, rings, our mobile phones and other valuables.”
