Former premiership-winning captain Bianca Chatfield is adamant the Melbourne Vixens can rebound from their horror Super Netball season quickly if they maintain their internal demand for excellence.
The double blow of injury and retirement, coupled with a Covid-enforced extended period on the road, has smashed the Vixensâ hopes of defending their 2020 title and left them languishing at the bottom of the ladder halfway through the season.
Melbourneâs insipid loss to Victorian rivals Collingwood Magpies in a derby played in Sydney last weekend left coach Simone McKinnis searching for positives.
They will not make the finals this year, but Chatfield said if they could maintain their effort and intensity through the second round, it could help build the platform for a quick turnaround when Diamonds captain Liz Watson returns from injury next season.
