Activist Christopher 2X and two University of Louisville surgeons have been invited by Sen. Rand Paul to visit Washington, D.C., to talk about a program that steers children affected by gun violence into medicine.
The program, Future Healers, a collaboration between Christopher 2X's Game Changers organization and U of L Health, is a response to the rising gun violence in Louisville and across the country. The program has begun its pilot phase with roughly two dozen children participating, according to Carolyn Callahan, manager of media at U of L Health.
"They hear about the hurt, they know that the hospital treats the hurt, but now we're starting to create some hope," 2X said. "It doesn't stop the bleed, it doesn't stop shootings, but some hope."
