Rand Paul to visit Washington, D.C., to talk about a program that steers children affected by gun violence into medicine. The program, Future Healers, a collaboration between Christopher 2X s Game Changers organization and U of L Health, is a response to the rising gun violence in Louisville and across the country. The program has begun its pilot phase with roughly two dozen children participating, according to Carolyn Callahan, manager of media at U of L Health. Politicians are looking at new, exciting pet projects and programs to fund but this is no time for that kind of thinking or spending. Continued record gun violence is destroying families and neighborhoods. Kids are under siege from constant gunfire outside their homes and traumatized in the aftermath of a wounded or lost loved one.
