QUINCY — Quincy police arrested eight people, including a 19-year-old from Fall River, and seized 18 kilograms of cocaine following five raids Monday, part of an investigation into a drug operation on the South Shore.
Quincy police said in a statement on Facebook that the monthlong investigation resulted in four raids in Quincy on Monday and one in Weymouth where police seized 18 kilograms of drugs.
Police said that also seized were $384,000 in cash, 11 pounds of marijuana, four semi-automatic pistols and one possibly automatic pistol with a silencer attached, which they referred to as a "possible machine gun."
Police said they arrested eight people in total, on a variety of charges, although who was charged with what was not readily available. Those charges included trafficking in over 200 grams of cocaine, trafficking in over 200 grams of fentanyl, possession of a machine gun, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession with intent to distribute a class B substance, use of a firearm in a felony, possessing a firearm with a firearm card, possession with intent to distribute a class D substance and improperly securing a firearm.
