So far, the only thing regulating medicinal marijuana caregivers’ home grows in Port Huron and two other St. Clair County communities is state statute.
But soon, that may change.
Port Huron officials are expected to give the final OK at Monday’s City Council meeting to additional rules for local grows already allowed under the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act. Similar measures are also going through the approval processes in Columbus and Riley townships.
In the city, Planning Director David Haynes said the effort to codify the issue follows a rise in complaints from neighbors about noticeable operations — both in apartments and on commercial properties — as well as concerns from city inspectors.
