WOONSOCKET — When officers investigated a crash Friday that killed a 72-year-old woman and hospitalized her 81-year-old husband, they thought simply that he had crossed the centerline and collided head on with a pickup truck.
But an accident reconstruction over the weekend told a different story.
Louis Gaulin, 81, was driving south on Harris Avenue near the intersection of Gaskill Street with his wife, Irene Gaulin, 72, in the passenger seat. At about 4 p.m., their Toyota crossed the centerline and slammed into the Ford F-150 pickup.
Both were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Irene Gauling died there, and Louis Gaulin was reported in stable condition Monday.
