The Providence Journal WOONSOCKET When officers investigated a crash Friday that killed a 72-year-old woman and hospitalized her 81-year-old husband, they thought simply that he had crossed the centerline and collided head on with a pickup truck. But an accident reconstruction over the weekend told a different story. Louis Gaulin, 81, was driving south on Harris Avenue near the intersection of Gaskill Street with his wife, Irene Gaulin, 72, in the passenger seat. At about 4 p.m., their Toyota crossed the centerline and slammed into the Ford F-150 pickup. Both were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Irene Gauling died there, and Louis Gaulin was reported in stable condition Monday. ....
4/19/2021 Police arrest woman in fatal hit-and-run WOONSOCKET – Woonsocket Police have arrested a woman charged with leaving the scene of an accident in a fatal hit-and-run last week. According to police, Kristie Gore, 30, was driving a Hyundai north on Harris Avenue last Friday, April 16, at about 4 p.m. when she turned left in front of an oncoming vehicle. The two vehicles collided, and the oncoming vehicle, a Toyota, veered across the center line into an oncoming Ford F-350 truck. Both of the elderly occupants of the Toyota suffered serious injuries and were transferred to Rhode Island Hospital. Irene Gaulin, 72, later succumbed to her injuries, while her husband, 81-year-old Louis Gaulin, remains in stable condition. ....

On Friday, April 16th, members of the Woonsocket Police Department responded to a serious motor vehicle crash at Harris Ave and Gaskill Street at about 4:00 p.m. Police say an elderly couple crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a Ford F-350. The crash resulted in serious injuries to the elderly couple and required treatment at Rhode Island Hospital. The passenger of the vehicle, 72-year-old Irene Gaulin succumbed to her injuries. 81-year-old Louis Gaulin is currently in stable condition. ....
Woonsocket Deputy Police Chief Michael Lemoine identified the woman as 72-year-old Irene Gaulin. The crash happened near Harris Avenue Friday afternoon when the couples sedan collided with a truck. Lemoine said the couple sustained serious injuries and were both rushed to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. The driver, Gaulin’s husband, is in stable condition, according to Lemoine.
