Bloemfontein police arrested 24 students during protest action at the University of the Free State (UFS) on Thursday.
Public Order Police Unit officers were deployed to the entrance of the university on Thursday morning, following complaints that students were protesting and blocking the road.
"On their arrival, police assessed the situation, where a group of about 50 students were blocking the crossing at the main entrance in Nelson Mandela Road," police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele said.
"They were accordingly warned and given time to clear the road."
