Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education's governing board agreed to abide by Chancellor Dan Greenstein's recommendation to proceed with the implementation plans for combining six state universities into two institutions.

A 60-day public comment period on a plan to consolidate six of Pennsylvania’s state universities into two institutions is now open.
The State System of Higher Education’s governing board on Wednesday voted 17-2 at a two-hour special meeting to proceed with a public comment period on a proposal to combine Bloomsburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield universities into one institution and Clarion, California and Edinboro universities.
