Peru to boost rural coverage with regional antenna leases

Peru's transport and communications ministry (MTC) announced plans to boost mobile coverage in rural parts of the country by permitting the lease of antennas owned by the state-run Community Support Project and Community Communication Support Project Conglomerate. A total of 3,002 antennas currently used for TV and radio transmission are available in all 24 regions of Peru. They benefit around 2 million people in rural and border areas and will be available for rental by public service licensees or rural mobile infrastructure operators for up to 20 years.
