Pensacola and several groups that sued the city last year to stop the removal of the Confederate monument will hold mediation to attempt to settle the ongoing lawsuit over the monument's removal.
The Ladies Memorial Association, the Stephen Mallory Camp 1315 Sons of Confederate Veterans, Save Our Southern Heritage Florida Chapter, Veterans Monuments of America and others sued the city last year after the City Council voted to remove the 129-year-old monument.
A federal judge ruled in September that the groups lack standing to sue the city over the monument's removal, and the city took down the 50-foot column and statue in October.
