Dimapur, Nov. 6 (EMN): Various organisations led by the deputy chief minister, Y Patton, have greeted the Lotha community on the occasion of Tokhu Emong celebration. Patton stated that Tokhu Emong is a festival of thanksgiving and merry making after a bountiful harvest, adding it is also a time to forgive and reconcile while forging for peace and unity. Patton, on behalf of the state BJP legislators, has conveyed warm Tokhu Emong greetings and expressed hope that it is celebrated in the true spirit of love and forgiveness. In another statement, the Akato Chophi-led NSCN/GPRN has greeted the Lotha community on the occasion of ‘Tokhu Emong’ festival, which is celebrated on November 7. As the words Tokhu in Lotha means ‘feast’ and Emong means ‘rest,’ it stated that the festival is celebrated to signify the end of harvest season. It added that the people celebrate the post harvest festival by making merry and rejoicing in songs, dances and feasting.
