Dimapur, Nov. 6 (EMN): Various organisations led by the deputy chief minister, Y Patton, have greeted the Lotha community on the occasion of Tokhu Emong celebration. Patton stated that Tokhu Emong is a festival of thanksgiving and merry making after a bountiful harvest, adding it is also a time to forgive and reconcile while forging for peace and unity. Patton, on behalf of the state BJP legislators, has conveyed warm Tokhu Emong greetings and expressed hope that it is celebrated in the true spirit of love and forgiveness. In another statement, the Akato Chophi-led NSCN/GPRN has greeted the Lotha community on the occasion of ‘Tokhu Emong’ festival, which is celebrated on November 7. Unidentified body recovered in Dimapur Dimapur, Oct. 29 (EMN): Dimapur Police recovered one unidentified male body, aged around 35 to 40 years, from 258/3-2 Rangapahar crossing area on October 29. According to a police report, the deceased was suspected to be run-over by a running train. It stated that the body was shifted to District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) for post mortem examination and identification after completion of all legal formalities. The deceased was dark in complexion and wearing red t-shirt and black half pant. Nagaland: Sangtam community celebrates 'Mongmong' festival

Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): The Sangtam community in Kiphire district celebrated the ‘Mongmong’ festival at the Kiphire local ground on September 2. The celebration was hosted by United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) with the NLA deputy speaker, T Yangseo Sangtam, as the special guest. A DIPR report stated that Sangtam tribe observes about 12 festivals spread all through a calendar year with feasting, dance and music built around the community life of the people. Being one of the most important festivals of the Sangtam community, Mongmong festival which means ‘togetherness forever’ is observed in the first week of September every year which stretches over six days. The main objective was to have a good harvest, food grains, for which the villagers toil throughout the year.
