Pakistan was 'mute spectator' when Hindu temple was razed: India tells United Nations

India on Thursday said that Pakistan did not deserve to be a co-sponsor to a United Nations resolution for promoting the protection of religious sites, as the country had allegedly “explicitly supported” a mob that set on fire and demolished a Hindu temple in December last year, reported ANI. New Delhi alleged that Islamabad’s agencies remained “mute spectators” while the temple was being razed.
The United Nations General Assembly on Thursday adopted a resolution for “promoting a culture of peace and tolerance to safeguard religious sites”. The resolution calls for strengthened international efforts to foster a global dialogue on the promotion of a culture of tolerance and peace at all levels, based on respect for human rights and for the diversity of religions and beliefs.
