Malcolm Kenyatta and Brian Sims are fighters.
Kenyatta is the first Black LGBTQ lawmaker in the state House, and Sims was the first openly gay lawmaker in the House.
The two Philadelphia Democrats had to fight to make Pennsylvania history, and they've had to fight as members of the minority party in their support of women's rights, equal rights, LGBTQ rights, civil rights and human rights.
Those fights are getting more intense as they both seek higher office next year.
Kenyatta is running for U.S. Senate, and Sims is running for lieutenant governor. If either of them win, they will make history again — this time as either the first Black LGBTQ senator from Pennsylvania or the first openly gay lieutenant governor.
