For the Ottawa Conservation District, one of the first signs of spring is the announcement of the annual Tree Seedling Sale.
This event provides residents with the opportunity to buy quality, locally grown, native tree seedlings for their properties and reap the benefits for many years to come.
The District has a long history of providing Ottawa County with tree seedlings. When the Ottawa Conservation District was founded in 1938, it was called the West Ottawa Soil Conservation District, and it was the first to be established in Michigan.
One of the founding directors was Clarence Reenders; the Ottawa Conservation District still works with the Reenders family, as it holds the annual tree sale at Reenders Blueberry Farm every year.
