TALLAHASSEE, Florida – DeAmez Ross tied a career high with three hits, including a leadoff home run and the go-ahead single in the eighth inning, to lead Florida State to a 6-4 victory Tuesday evening over Jacksonville. The Seminoles four-game winning streak is its second-longest of the season.

Ross finished with a solo home run and two singles, scored three runs and had two RBI in the leadoff spot. His home run on the second pitch from Jacksonville starter Blake Barquin was his second of the season, and FSU’s third leadoff home run of the year. Ross tied the game on Cam Smith’s double in the fifth inning, and gave FSU a 5-4 lead on a two-out single in the eighth.

Jaime Ferrer added three more hits and now leads FSU with 68 on the season; his 20th double of the year tops his freshman season total and provided the final margin in the eighth inning, scoring Ross.

The Dolphins countered Ross’s leadoff home run with a two-run home run from Hogan McIntosh in the second inning.

After a walk with one out in the fourth inning, starting pitcher Jamie Arnold was replaced by Ben Barrett, who stranded the runner with a pair of groundouts.

Tommy Joseph hit a leadoff double in the seventh inning off Barrett; pinch runner Cam Ridley advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly for the Dolphin lead. Doug Kirkland recorded three outs in the seventh in relief of Barrett.

Kirkland pitched the final 3.0 for his second win of the season.
