The Oregon National Guard has been authorized to help local and state police officials deal with potential protests at the Oregon State Capitol ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration.
Oregon State Police Superintendent Terri Davie requested Gov. Kate Brown to activate the Oregon Army National Guard members to assist with "potential upcoming civil unrest/protests," state police said in a release Wednesday.
State national guard members will be deployed "as necessary" to the Capitol and other places, though officials did not immediately specify how many members will be deployed and where.
