River Road S is closed and more than 100 people are without power after a vehicle struck a utility pole near Independence Wednesday evening.
The Marion County Sheriff s Office responded to the single-car crash around 5:30 p.m. prompting the closure on River Road S between Orville Road and the Independence Bridge.
The driver, who was not immediately identified, suffered minor injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, sheriff s office spokesperson Sgt. Jeremy Landers said.
Pacific Power reported an outage affecting 127 customers in the area due to the crash. The outage is affecting residents in the 97302 and 97306 zip codes.

The Oregon National Guard has been authorized to help local and state police officials deal with potential protests at the Oregon State Capitol ahead of President-elect Joe Biden s inauguration.
Oregon State Police Superintendent Terri Davie requested Gov. Kate Brown to activate the Oregon Army National Guard members to assist with potential upcoming civil unrest/protests, state police said in a release Wednesday.
State national guard members will be deployed as necessary to the Capitol and other places, though officials did not immediately specify how many members will be deployed and where.

A 23-year-old woman from Oak Harbor, Washington, was taken to Oregon Health & Science University in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in the 4100 block of Brooklake Road on New Year s Eve.
Emergency crews responded to the call just after 6:30 p.m. near the Brooks I-5 interchange and discovered that Cassidy Kendall was hit by a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe and suffered life-threatening injuries.
Marion County Sheriff s Office Sgt. Jeremy Landers said crews immediately began assisting Kendall, while deputies interviewed witnesses at the scene. The sheriff s office was assisted by crash investigators from Oregon State Police.
