Onslow Board of Education Thomas dies from COVID-19 complications

Officials in Onslow County announced longtime Board of Education member and former Chairman Pamela Thomas died Sunday morning. 
Thomas was admitted to Onslow Memorial Hospital in late November after being diagnosed with COVID-19. Thomas' death follows days after that of her mother, who died Thursday at the age of 94.
This morning, the family posted the tragic news on social media of Thomas' passing at approximately 12:20 a.m. 
In an update from Thomas' family last week, they indicated Thomas seemed to be improving but had a long road of recovery ahead.
Commissioner Robin Knapp released a statement on social media Sunday morning explaining Thomas had taken a turn for the worst. "It is with great sadness that I inform all of you of the passing of Ms. Pam Thomas. She recently lost her mother, who she completely adored and it breaks my heart."
