Following several calls for removal, Oneida County Democratic Elections Commissioner Carolann Cardone submitted a letter of resignation Tuesday.
In her letter, Cardone tendered her resignation, effective March 2, and said the decision was "not an easy one." She also pledged a smooth transition for her successor.
"I have truly enjoyed my tenure and am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Board of Elections and the relationships I have made over the past 31 years with the County," Cardone said in her letter.
Grimaldi could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
In his letter, Picente highlighted findings the board failed to comply with state and federal law from state Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte, who oversaw the judicial review.
