DURHAM, N.C. – Jenna Thompson picked up a ranked win as the No. 57 Clemson women’s tennis team (10-11, 2-9 ACC) fell at the hands of No. 10 Duke (15-3, 10-2 ACC) by a final score of 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. The match marked the Tigers last road match of the regular season. The Blue Devils came out firing and quickly secured the doubles point with two 6-3 wins. Duke’s momentum carried through to singles where it took a commanding 3-0 lead. Thompson took care of business over the No. 123 singles player on Court 3, winning in straight sets. The victory gave her a 2-1 record over ranked opponents this year, but it wasn’t enough for Clemson. Duke won the remaining matches to secure the victory. Up next, the Tigers return to Duckworth Family Tennis Facility to close out their regular season with three matches. On Friday, they take on Virginia at 3 p.m. and on Sunday they’ll play a doubleheader, beginning at noon against Virginia Tech and concluding against S.C. State at 4 p.m. For all the most up-to-date information regarding Clemson women’s tennis, visit ClemsonTigers.com and follow @ClemsonWTennis on Twitter and Instagram.
