The Nigerian Government has commenced an investigation into the alleged data breaches made against Meta, a haulage company, DHL, and online payment platform OPay, The Nation reports. Meta is the owner of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads. It was learned that if found liable, the companies would forfeit two percent of their annual gross revenue to the government. In recent times, there have been a series of complaints about the companies by Nigerians over the violation of data subjects’ rights.
