HICKORY HILLS, IL — U.S. Rep. Marie Newman (IL-03) secured $640,000 in federal funding for Hickory Hills as part of this year's community project funding from the House Committee on Appropriations. Upon passage in Congress, the funding would be used to update 20,000 linear feet of sanitary sewers in a low-income section of the Hickory Hills, reducing basement backups and sanitary sewer overflows.
"In my five months serving in Washington, I have been proud to fight for infrastructure investments that will improve the quality of life of my constituents," said Congresswoman Marie Newman in a news release. "By securing this funding for the City of Hickory Hills, we can modernize a sewer system that services thousands of residents, improving their wellbeing and the public health of the city as a whole. I was proud to work with Mayor Howley to obtain funding for this project, and I look forward to continuing to work together to ensure that residents of Illinois' Third District have the highest quality public services."
