The Newburyport Art Association partners with the New England Sculptors Association and The Firehouse Center for the Arts to open three new exhibitions.
“Positivity,” a sculpture exhibition co-presented with the New England Sculptors Association will feature 19 sculptural works juried by sculptor Christopher Gowell. The sculptures will be in the Hills Gallery at the Newburyport Art Association from April 27 through May 9 with a special Zoom awards ceremony at 5 p.m. May 8.
Two awards will be given: a Juror’s Choice Award and a People’s Choice Award voted by viewers online and onsite. In-person visitors to the show can vote at the NAA, and visitors to the online gallery can vote at http://nesculptors.org/positivity. Please visit http://nesculptors.org for the Zoom link to the awards ceremony. Gowell has sculpted the figure for 50 years and holds a BFA from UNH and an MFA in sculpture from Boston University. She founded the Sanctuary Arts School and Sculpture Center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Christopher has significant public pieces to her credit throughout New Hampshire in Manchester, along the Nashua canal waterfront, and at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye. She is a member of the National Sculpture Society and Ogunquit Artists Collaborative. Her work can be viewed at Bowersock Gallery in Provincetown, and on her website http://christophergowell.com.
