Newburyport Art Association, NESA to present exhibitions Newburyport Art Association The Newburyport Art Association partners with the New England Sculptors Association and The Firehouse Center for the Arts to open three new exhibitions. “Positivity,” a sculpture exhibition co-presented with the New England Sculptors Association will feature 19 sculptural works juried by sculptor Christopher Gowell. The sculptures will be in the Hills Gallery at the Newburyport Art Association from April 27 through May 9 with a special Zoom awards ceremony at 5 p.m. May 8. Two awards will be given: a Juror’s Choice Award and a People’s Choice Award voted by viewers online and onsite. In-person visitors to the show can vote at the NAA, and visitors to the online gallery can vote at http://nesculptors.org/positivity. Middleton resident featured in Newburyport Art Association show Courtesy of the Newburyport Art Association MIDDLETON The Newburyport Art Association will present new work from featured artists Cheryl Dyment, of Middleton, and Sara Demrow Dent, of Newburyport, from April 27 to May 9 at the Newburyport Art Association, 65 Water St., Newburyport. Gallery hours 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays or by appointment. Gallery hours are being extended on the two Fridays of the exhibit, April 30 and May 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. for special “Meet the Artists” times. The two-person exhibit in the NAA s largest, first-floor Sargent Gallery, will allow visitors to approach each artist’s work with a fresh perspective. ....
Community Content The Newburyport Art Association and the Firehouse Center for the Arts will co-present “Love is Love!,” a curated exhibit of 32 artworks that celebrates love in its many forms. Featuring 30 artists working in acrylic, drawing, oil, pastel, photography, printmaking, and mixed media, this pop-up show takes place at the Institution for Savings Gallery at the Firehouse from Feb. 12 through March 28. This artistic partnership between the NAA and the Firehouse Center for the Arts was inspired by a desire to collaboratively create a warm, welcoming, and vibrant arts experience that the public could visit safely through the cold days of February and March months made even more challenging this year by the continuing pandemic while activating the Firehouse lobby and Institution for Savings Gallery and providing additional exhibition space for NAA artists. ....
