New North principal looks to support students

In North Hardin High School’s library, staff members waited Wednesday with anticipation for the announcement of the new school principal by the school’s site-based decision making council.
Jeff Maysey, North Hardin assistant principal, was promoted to be the principal of the high school, and was met with applause and cheers.
However, for Maysey, his time as a student was not easy.
Maysey is a Breck­in­ridge County High School graduate. He said during most of his time in school, he was an “at-risk kid,” who felt school wasn’t important.
However, he said with various teachers, surrogate parents and football coaches, they taught him to be more serious about education, and helped to steer him in a new direction.
