Nelson Super Slam serves up beach volleyball tournament in Nelson

“Maybe more people know about it and maybe the weather’s a bit nicer as well.
“We’ve had a stronger field in general this year because we’ve had a lot of teams come up from Christchurch and last year we didn’t have that.”

Players descended on Nelson for the preliminary volleyball rounds from all over the country, including Christchurch, Auckland, Tauranga and Taranaki, with some of the top competitors based in the North Island, Miller said.
The national tour travels to four locations between January and March, including the national championships to be held at Ruakaka on January 23-24, a city event in Cathedral Square, Christchurch as well as Mount Maunganui.
